Translation*

For Him who made and cherished you,

No attachment you feel?

Should sowing in inappropriate season be done,

Is obtained therefrom neither fruit nor flower. (1)

My self! this is the right state of the soil to sow the Name:

Plant now the crop, attach to it thy mind-

This is the appropriate season, bringing gain. (I-pause)

Give up the mind’s stubborn pursuits and doubts;

With the holy Satguru seek shelter.

Whoever has good fortune from primal time recorded,

In this task engages. (2)

With love for the Lord formed, is one’s endeavour fruitful.

The crop grown within myself,

No way is exhausted. (3)

The invaluable boon have we attained,

That no way from us is parted.

Saith Nanak: Joy have we attained, and feel fulfilled. (4) (4.13)
